Music at Crosthwaite Church

Music plays a significant role in the life and worship of Crosthwaite Church in worship, concerts and other activities.

The Church Choir leads the congregation in congregational singing, enhances the worship with occasional anthems and settings during communion. It comprises around 16 men and women. Choir rehearsal time is 5pm throughout the year.

New members are always welcome, and should contact Organist and Choirmaster Laurence Durston-Smith.

Instruments used to lead worship include the fine organ (one of the largest in Cumbria) a Bechstein piano, accompanied on occasion by guitar and other instruments. A wide range of musical styles is embraced, incorporating the best of the old and the new.

In the summer months, occasional concerts are arranged under the title of Concerts at Crosthwaite. The church is also the venue for Keswick Choral Society's annual Christmas concert.
